Saunahytten is a mobile luxury sauna on wheels, and the largest of the huts has a permanent spot at Aalborg Sejlklub, the city's sailing club. The heat comes from a wood-fired stove with lava stones, the benches are sauna wood, and a large panorama window faces the marina. The hut has a changing room, a Bluetooth speaker and a lounge and bar area, and as a guest you also have access to the sailing club's own changing facilities with showers and toilets. The concept was created by Martin Funke, who built the first sauna hut in 2015.
Sauna sessions with us
Sauna sessions at Saunahytten by Aalborg Sejlklub are held in the extra-large hut, which takes up to 18 people for a session and is heated by a wood-fired stove with lava stones. A session lasts an hour and consists of three rounds in which water mixed with essential oils is poured onto the stove while the sauna host swings the towel so the scented steam circulates through the sauna. Between rounds you can take a refreshing dip, and you can change either in the hut or in the sailing club's own showers and toilets. Sessions run in both the afternoon and the evening, and places are limited, so book your ticket in advance. Bring swimwear and a towel.
