Vandvirke

Vandvirke is Skanderborg municipality's new swimming hall on Højvangens Torv in the centre of Skanderborg, built around four pools: a 25-metre pool, a warm-water pool, a multi-pool with a water slide and a baby pool. The wellness area also has a Kneipp bath, a spa pool and a steam bath, and the newly built 35-square-metre luxury sauna seats 35 guests, with two powerful stoves and custom light effects. There is a café and a rooftop terrace upstairs.

Our regular sauna gus is included in the entrance fee and is held a few times a week, typically early in the morning, where the gus master pours essential oils onto the hot stones and spreads the heat through the sauna. Alongside the regular gus we also hold larger themed evenings such as '6 Warm Experiences', where the evening builds through three different sauna gus rounds - an energetic opening gus, a calmer nature-inspired gus and a final, dimmed gus in near-darkness - paired with three steam bath ceremonies run in groups. The warm-water pool opens between rounds, and water, electrolytes, fresh fruit and snacks are served along the way. There is room for 35 guests at a time, and the themed evenings require advance sign-up, while the regular gus just requires showing up.
