Sauna session in Kirke Hyllinge

Kirke Hyllinge has two sauna venues: a private sauna in the countryside with two sauna hosts, and a volunteer-run swimming pool where sessions run all winter.

Saunagården is on Nakkedamsvej, where the sauna sits on a large wooden deck looking out over the fields, and the venue's own motto is calm, presence and the view. Behind it are Bernt, who built Saunagården and hosts sessions himself with high heat and a focus on being present in the moment, and Rikke, a hairdresser, sexologist and body therapist who runs gentler sessions built around breathing and self-awareness. A session lasts just under two hours and consists of three rounds, each with its own set of three essential oils prepared in advance. The programme rotates between fixed formats: Søndagsgus with Bernt, Godnat-gus with Rikke, a beginner's session for anyone new to the heat, and a Friday session/bar, where the weekend is marked with a beer for those who want one. There's a cold-water tub and an ice bath right outside the sauna, and snacks, water and tea are served at every session. Groups are small, with room for ten guests at a time, and there's shared indoor changing.

Sæby-Gershøj Svømmebad is a public, solar-heated outdoor pool on Hornsherredvej, run by volunteers. Besides the pool there is a sauna, mini-golf, trampolines, table tennis and disc golf. Sauna sessions run all through the winter half-year, even while the pool is closed.
