Saunahytten Blokhus Strand

Saunahytten at Blokhus Beach is a mobile luxury sauna on wheels, parked down on the sand below the Sømærket landmark with a large panorama window facing straight out over the North Sea. The heat comes from a wood-fired stove with lava stones, and the benches inside are sauna wood. The hut also holds a toilet, a changing room and a lounge and bar area with a Bluetooth speaker. It was here in Blokhus that the very first sauna hut was finished in December 2015.

A sauna session at Saunahytten by Blokhus Beach is heat and a North Sea dip in one. A session lasts an hour and consists of three rounds in which water mixed with essential oils is poured onto the wood-fired stove while the sauna host swings the towel so the steam circulates through the hut. Between rounds you walk the few steps down into the North Sea for a refreshing dip before returning to the heat and the view through the panorama window. Sessions run both in the morning and in the evening, all year round and with extra ones during the holidays. Arrive already changed, down on the beach below the Sømærket landmark, and bring swimwear, a towel and bathing shoes.
