Sauna session in Åbyhøj

Åbyhøj has one sauna venue, and here the session is built into a recovery area rather than being a visit of its own.

THEGYM Aarhus sits on Søren Frichs Vej, where the whole area is built around thermal contrast: a Finnish sauna at 86 degrees with dry, intense heat, a bio sauna at 60-70 degrees with higher humidity for longer and gentler stays, and an integrated cold plunge kept at 7-9 degrees with continuous filtration. The sessions are held in the Finnish sauna, which seats 20, with the plunge right beside it, and they are set up as a ritual of three consecutive 15-minute rounds - you choose whether to take one, two or all three, and you book each round separately. In each round, water with pure essential oils is poured over the stones so the humidity rises and the heat grows more intense, and the oils are chosen for whether they should calm or invigorate. Between rounds you cool off in the plunge and top up with complimentary electrolytes. The area comes with towel service, a lounge and refreshments, and access is included with membership or a day pass.
