Viking Saunagus

Viking Saunagus is based at Sundhedshuset Engsbye on Hvilehøjvej in Odense SØ, a health centre that runs sauna sessions alongside its treatments and classes. The classic sauna is combined with ice baths, cold showers, meditation and breathing exercises, and the building also has an infrared sauna. You come in through the main entrance and are shown on to the changing rooms, and there is free parking at the venue.

Our sauna sessions are built around three rounds, and in each round the sauna host pours three different essential oils onto the hot stones and spreads the steam with a fan - nine scents in all across a session. We combine the heat with ice baths, cold showers, meditation and breathing exercises, so you can find your inner viking. The programme alternates between HIGH sessions for lightness, good spirits and high energy, and DEEP sessions that are calm, meditative and grounding. Alongside the regular sessions we hold themed evenings such as a sauna session with red light meditation, a music journey with eight rounds, and a session followed by tapas. Bring two large towels - one to sit on and one to dry off with - plus swimwear, bath slippers, a water bottle and a sauna hat if you have one, and do not eat right before, but have a light meal a couple of hours earlier.
