Sauna session in Herning

Herning has both the town's water culture house and a farm outside town - one with free admission to the daily sessions, the other with a wood-fired sauna and a lake.

DGI Huset Herning is a water culture house where admission gets you free access to the daily sauna sessions. A sauna host pours scented oils on the hot stones and spreads the scent with a swinging towel, and at weekends the venue offers special sauna themes.

Schellerup Gård is a farm with a lake at Kollund outside Herning, where sauna sessions run in a wood-fired sauna. A session lasts about an hour with three rounds of 10-15 minutes, with breaks to cool down and drink water in between. Mixed sessions hold 18 people and run at 110-120 degrees with low humidity, while the women-only session runs at around 90-100 degrees with a focus on balance and presence. The cold plunge is taken in the farm's own lake when it's below 10 degrees - and otherwise in two ice baths at 10 and 3 degrees.
